Economics by all definitions fits the criteria of being a social science – as the primary unit of analysis for economists are ultimately human beings and their decisions, both at individual and aggregate levels. Yet, economists can at times bring in unwarranted haughtiness when advocating for their discipline with regards to other less ‘technical’ and mathematical social sciences. This attitude often is the reason for a multitude of problems that continues to afflict economics as a field and economic policymaking as an effective instrument for social change.
