Understanding Trauma & Imposter Syndrome in the Human Services Field Event

Professionals within the social services industry encounter or have encountered trauma and imposter syndrome. The two can be difficult encounters to identify and navigate dependent upon what normalcy is considered to each individual. This event will provide education, understanding, and resources on how individuals can counter these experiences and possibly intervene with coping strategies when they’re identified. Co-led by Deserah Telles, Phd - Tamar's Refuge Village Deserah graduated with a doctorate in Human Behavior in 2020 (some good came out of that year). She has provided a number of specialized therapeutic services to those dealing with challenging life experiences, trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, substance use and defiant behaviors. Deserah is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor who understands the importance of mental wellness, while integrating a spiritual aspect. Deserah is a mental health advocate and champion of underserved communities, providing trauma responsive care through crises. She is the founder of Tamar's Refuge Village, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, that exists to enable restorative and transformative care to survivors of DMST and dual diagnosis. She enjoys educating and consulting individuals on the impacts of trauma and equity in the work culture. Her motto is “I try to be who I needed when I was younger”. In her free time, she enjoys playing sports, writing, volunteering with local nonprofits, bible studies, and hanging out with friends and family.
